10th International Yoga Day in Namchi: NCC Cadets Perform Shavasana at Bhaichung Stadium
Celebrating the 10th International Yoga Day (IYD), NCC cadets showcased around 382 ‘dead body’ Yog-asanas, also known as Shavasana, at Bhaichung Stadium.

The participation was made jointly by from the 4 – Sikkim NCC Battalion Namchi and the 5 – Bengal NCC Battalion Darjeeling. Participants included 18 army personnel, six officers, 352 cadets, and 12 civil staff. Cadets from nearby schools and colleges of Namchi and Darjeeling also took part in the event.

Trained yoga instructors from Sikkim Government College Namchi supervised the activities. Various asanas were demonstrated, including Vajrasana, Surya Namaskar, and Shavasana (dead body pose).

Colonel DD Pandey of the 4 Sikkim NCC Battalion commended the enthusiasm of the cadets. “The enthusiasm shown by the cadets was worth appreciating,” he said. The event was a grand success. All the participants were given refreshments after the event was over. He also said.

This International Yoga Day event highlights the growing importance of yoga for both personal well-being and societal harmony. Yoga must me practiced every day, for atleast a half hour for best results, Colonel Pandey added.
