The General Secretary Of BJP Sikkim, Arjun Rai, On The Violence Perpetrated At Their Party Member At Sawali Gaon, Have Warned The Sikkim Government

(Namchi, 5th April, 2024) The general secretary of BJP Sikkim, Arjun Rai, at Namchi today, has condemned a group violence on a BJP member of Soreng District, Suren Rai, perpetrated in the evening of March 03, at Sawali Gaon of Soreng District.
Following the act of replacing the SKM party flag to that of the BJP party flag at his residence, by a youth of Sawali Gaon, the general secretary of BJP Sikkim, Arjun Rai, has alleged SKM goons/karyakarta to have made an attack on Suren Rai.
According to Arjun Rai, the attack was recorded to have perpetrated in the evening of March 03, after Suren Rai replaced the flag at his residence from that of SKM Party to BJP Party.
Arjun Rai have reasoneded that on the day of the incident, the BJP candidate of Zoom-Salghari constituency, Palman Kami, made a party campaigning in Sawali Gaon, because of which, Suren Rai made a choice of replacing the party flag.
Arjun Rai have commented that the political violence affects the image of Sikkim itself, and have warned the perpetrators to refrain from such an act, and that such acts of violence were intolerable.
Furthermore, Arjun Rai have requested the standing chief minister of Sikkim, PS Tamang, also the party president of SKM Party, to mediate his party workers in refraining from such act of political violence. And added that the BJP Office of Sikkim have also been notified with many more violence on individuals for choosing other parties of Sikkim.
While requesting the chief minister for his just intervention on the political violence across different political parties of Sikkim, the general secretary of BJP Sikkim, Arjun Rai, have said that the failure of providing justice from the government will bind BJP Sikkim in taking legal and other steps against such acts of political violence.
Meanwhile, a press release was obtained from the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Soreng District, at around 11pm yesterday.
The press release had mentioned; the Nayabazar Police Station received a written report from one Raj Kumar Rai, resident of Sawali Gaon, near Pipaley, on March 04, at around 3pm. The report of Raj Kumar Rai stated that his son Suren Rai, 27 years, was assaulted by Pravesh Chettri and three others near his house on the night of March 03, in between 11pm to 12pm.
In accordance to the report made by Raj KUmar Rai, Naya Bazaar PS registered a Criminal Case with FIR No. 02/2024 on March 04, under section 325/34 IPC of 1860, for investigation.
The press release further mentioned that the investigation was taken up with utmost priority and the perpetrators, namely, Pravesh Chettri, 28 years old, of Gelling, Soreng District, Nitesh Chettri, 20 years old, of Gelling, Soreng District, Mingma Lepcha, 29 years old, of Gelling, Soreng District, and Sangam Rai, 31 years old, of Samsing, Soreng District, were apprehended immediately by the police. And the apprehended youths were taken in the custody at Nayabazar PS for interrogation, and the case is presently under active investigation, the press release mentions.

Whereas, the general secretary of BJP Sikkim, Arjun Rai, have addressed the youths of Sikkim, and has asked them to not be misguided by the party’s movements and other political hearsays. He also commented that the image of Sikkim of being peaceful, and it’s recorded beauty, should not be tarnished by the political violence or other wayward acts of the people.
