Sikkim’s Eco-Development Park: From Dumping Ground to Green Oasis
Transforming a Dumping Site into a Green Haven
Once a dumping ground for rubble from the Damthang-Tarku road extension, Namchi Forest Division has revitalized it into the Eco-Development Park, Damthang. It covers around one-hectare of land area near Nh10 at Damthang.
Sustainable Design at the Core
The Park’s eco-friendly infrastructure is constructed with sustainability in mind, using locally sourced stones, wood, and iron. The construction is made under close supervision from the Namchi Forest Division.

A Green Commitment: Mero Rukh, Mero Santati Initiative
In line with Sikkim’s “Mero Rukh, Mero Santati” initiative, the Park includes a tree nursery. And native medicinal plants like nakeema, deukush, and khokeema support conservation and research on the plants.

Japanese-Inspired Cafeteria with Temi Tea Experience
A Japanese-inspired cafeteria with a unique tea bar offers teas from the nearby Temi Tea Garden, just minutes away, bringing a touch of Sikkim’s famous tea culture.

Eco-Friendly Amenities and Infrastructure
Features like a stone gazebo, rainwater harvesting system, and solar panels reduce the Park’s environmental impact. It also enhances its charm and sustainability.
A Family Destination with a Sample Tea Garden
The Park includes a dedicated play area for children and a sample tea garden to educate visitors on tea cultivation. It offers a mini-Temi Tea Garden experience for the visitors.
Scenic Views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Surroundings
Nestled between a pine forest and stunning Himalayan views, the Park offers panoramic sights of Mt. Kanchenjunga, Bhaledhunga Ropeway, and more.
Symbol of Environmental Commitment for Future Generations
More than a leisure spot, the Park is a commitment to the environment and future generations. The authorities plan to make the Park open to the public by year-end for a harmonious nature experience.
