Leezum Lepcha Receives DGNCC Commendation Card and Medallion

The DG NCC Commendation Card 2024 is awarded to Leezum Lepcha of 4 Sikkim NCC Battalion for outstanding acts in the field of adventure sports, training and for outstanding contribution in social and cultural activities.

Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, awarded the Commendation Card and medallion to Leezum Lepcha on the fourth Sunday of November, during NCC Day celebration, in Gangtok.

According to the Commanding Officer, Colonel DD Pandey, of 4 Sikkim NCC Battalion, awardee Leezum Lepcha, goes extra miles to fulfill her duties. While also giving extra efforts to the work and imparting culture to the cadets.

In addition to the herculean task of registration and updates of 3520 cadets every year. Leezum Lepcha is involved in every task of SSCDA (Social Service & Community Development).

Which includes the active participation in 2023 Sikkim flood relief operation organized by NCC. National mission of Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan. Community activities like tree plantation and blood donation. And social awareness campaign for anti drugs mission with Unity Run. And climate and global natural resources preservation with river cleaning.

Other than that, Lizum Lepcha is active member of NCC activities like, NCC Alumni Association, NCC ⁠Digital Forum and ⁠Yoga.

The adventure loving, Lizum Lepcha also partipates in NCC training adventure activities like, trekking camp and rock climbing.

Besides being awarded with DGNCC Commendation Card and medallion in 2024, Lepcha is a recipient of ADG Medallion 2022. And is conferred with the appreciation certificate and medal by the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, in 2023.

In an interview with Leezum Lepcha, on Monday, she says that she dedicates the award to 4 Sikkim NCC Battalion. It’s workers and cadets. She thanks her family for their ever present support and inspirations.

As a mother of one son, Leezum Lepcha believes that she will call herself a successful person when her son becomes a successful person in the society. She hopes, that she too, will inspire her son with her achievements.
