Namchi, September 1, 2025: Namchi Police have registered a case of unnatural death after the decomposed body of a woman was discovered in Mamring ward, near Rangpo, on August 31.

According to police sources, the incident came to light when residents noticed a foul smell coming from an unlocked room in a local residence. Upon inspection, they found the body of a tenant in an advanced stage of decomposition.

The deceased has been identified as Sita Chettri, approximately 30 years old, originally from Gelling, Soreng district. She had been residing in the house and operating a shop from the premises.

Police inspections revealed no signs of struggle, visible injuries, or weapons at the scene, indicating that the death does not immediately appear to be homicidal in nature.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death, and further investigation is underway
