Jorethang Police Arrests Three Persons In Possession Of Narcotic Substances, On May 07

Jorethang Police arrests three persons in Jorethang-Melli Road, in possession of narcotic and contraband substances, on May 07, Wednesday.

The narcotic and contraband substances were found in the joint possession of three individuals, Kishore Tamang, Krishna Chettri, and Ranjit Kami.

According to police report, a case has been registered under relevant sections of SADA and the NDPS Act. And the matter is under investigation.

Under the directive of the SSP Namchi District, Jorethang Police Station today has arrested the trio, adding to the police actions to combat the menace of drug trafficking in the district.

The police report has mentioned, “Acting on a complaint received from a concerned citizen, the police carried out a successful operation today at around 11AM.”

A police team from Jorethang PS intercepted a truck, with registration number: WB73C-8555, near the RMDD Office on Jorethang-Melli Road and seized a large quantity of contraband substances, including Heroin, Nitrazepam, and Tramadol, the report has further stated.

On May 05, Namchi District Police appealed to the general public from the office of SSP Namchi, to contact Namchi SSP’s official phone number in case of movements and activities of drug peddling in their concerned areas, under Namchi District.

Following the appeal made my Namchi District Police on May 05, various Police Stations under Namchi District are receiving informations on drug peddling from the general public, reports have suggested.
