Police Extend Remand in Melli Attack Case as SDF Pursues ‘Mastermind’

Namchi, 6th March, 2024: The nine members of SDF party, along with the victims of the recent goons attack of Melli, visited the office of Namchi Superintendent of Police to inquire for the development of the case on the attack on the senior member of SDF party KN Rai today.

The members have said that the police have extended the second term remand on their favor for facilitating investigation, which shall last till March 13.

Whereas, the long standing search of the party for the ‘mastermind’ of the attack may have been based on the two factors, as shared by, Dr. Shivkumar Timsina, and another victim of the attack.

Dr. Timsina while briefing the press infront of DAC Namchi today, have shared that Saroj Thapa, who was arrested for attacking the party cadres at Melli, was found recording their movements before the attack. According to him, the transcription in Saroj Thapa’s phone may be found as an event if collected.

Also, the time details of a video release on the incident, made from the official FB page of Jacob Khaling, the SKM party coordinator, was much before the report made by the victims of opposition party of SDF, as shared by Chandra Khaling, another victim. The time difference of the video upload and the report of SDF party has led them to believe that the attack was an organized attack made by a ‘mastermind’.

Furthermore, the victims have also shared that an FIR was made against Jacob Khaling for the video release, and urged the police to conserve all the transcription of Saroj Thapa’s phone for the evidence on their allegations.
