The Yearly Plantation Programme, a flagship eco-conscious initiative, was successfully convened on July 12 at the ecologically significant Kitam Bird Sanctuary.

The event was spearheaded by the Men’s Guild of Namchi Presbytery in strategic collaboration with the Social Service Committee of CEPCS.

This year’s iteration saw the active engagement of approximately 150 participants, including notable dignitaries such as CEPCS Men’s Guild President, Anand Pakash Subba, Namchi Presbytery President John Lepcha and PD Tamang, Secretary of the Social Service Committee (CEPCS).

The hallmark of this green intervention lies in its focused afforestation of fruit-bearing species – including guava, mango, litchi, and avocado – designed not just for reforestation, but as a sustainable habitat enrichment strategy to bolster wildlife conservation and ecological food web restoration.

First instituted in 2017, this annual programme has evolved into a vital community-driven conservation model, combining faith-based stewardship, biodiversity enhancement, and environmental resilience building.
