In the 29th foundation day celebration of Dakshin Sikkim Sahitya Sammelan at Namchi, on 24th March 2024, a programme of award ceremony was organized with, the awards given to one each of the literaturate, poet, artist, and singer from inside Sikkim, awarded with, prestigious Shiva Kumar Rai Memorial Award, Kavi Agam Singh Tamang Pratibha Purashkar, and LD Rai Pratibha Purashkar, and Bali Subba ‘Basanta’ Purashkar, respectively.

Dakshin Sikkim Sahitya Sammelan, during their foundation day in Namchi awarded TB Subba, with Shiva Kumar Rai Memorial Award for his continued contributions to Nepali literature. Similarly, Tika Dhungel ‘Ratan’ was awarded with Kabi Agam Singh Tamang Pratibha Purashkar (in poetry), Kishore Sampang with LD Rai ‘Mikkholay’ Pratibha Purashkar (in painting), and Sumanshri with Bali Subba ‘Basanta’ Pratibha Purashkar (in singing).

During the event, a children’s book named, Bal Kathan (samiksha samagraha) by Tika Dhungel ‘Ratana’, too was launched. And also had the felicitations given to ten senior authors and poets, one each from, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong, Doars, Siliguri, Gangtok, Gyalshing, Pakyong, Soreng, and Namchi, who have made their continuous contributions in Nepali literature.

After the twenty-nine years of Dakshin Sikkim Sahitya Sammelan, it proudly states that the association is self supported, and the sponsorship of awards too are self sustained. They further challenges the society and government of Sikkim to make their contributions in preserving and uplifting the language and mother tongue.
