The survey team of Mission Bermeli Namchi needs support from the people of Namchi for mission success – Pabitra Rajalim

Namchi, 31st May, 2024: The survey team of ‘Mission Bermeli Namchi’ on May 29 visited the main area of the distortion of water catering pipes of PHED Namchi, in Ravangla Bypass, to survey the complications of reconnecting waterpipes when they are damaged.

Th team of the locals from Namchi, led by Pabitra Rai, Sushma Chettri, and Suren Rai, of Namchi, were joined by Rekha Gurung, Tilak Mukhia (retired DFO), Ongdup Bhutia, (Agya bhaichung), and other retired employees, and youths from Namchi in the visit of Ravangla Bypass. Later on, they also visited Chitrey, below Bermeli, led by Dhiren Rai, Loken Mukhia and team, for finding alternate source of fresh water for Namchi town.

While interacting with the press, Suren Rai have said that the damage to the pipes were repaired for catering pipes by PHED Namchi. He also shared that the team stands with the fitters of PHED who were deputed at the site for instant repairing of the pipes. He further stated that the team found the area where the waterpipes were damaged, to be life takingly difficult for the fitters. He appealed the locals of Namchi to support the survey team in their further stages, for making Mission Bermeli a success.

On the other hand, Sushma Chettri of Namchi, said that Mission Bermeli Namchi is getting supports from the locals and administrations likewise. She said that Mission Bermeli Namchi was initially formed for water source development for Bermeli source only. But, the Mission has increased different lines of work, especially to find other possible sources, and to include ‘Dhara Bikash’ in yet another areas of Namchi district, for another water source development, she said.

Pabitra Rajalim of Namchi, who started Mission Bermeli with small numbers of team members, after their second survey of May 29, has said that the mission is going to require financial and physical support from the people of Namchi to beat the water scarcity of the town in the days to come.

So far, the survey team of Mission Bermeli have surveyed Kitchu-Dumra pipeline catering water to Chardham Namchi by electric pumping of water, on May 28. The team on the next day, May 29, surveyed Ravangla Bypass, and Chitrey, below Bermeli, in support of the representatives of the youths and retired employees of Namchi.

Sushma Chettri has written, “Team Mission Bermeli (Namchi) with Mr Joydeep Das (Kolkata), former Consultant of Kirloskar and Co., alongwith the Junior Engineers from PHE Namchi and Mr Damber Subba surveyed the existing project for Rangeet to Chardham water catering pipes on May 28. Joydeep Das gave us the report of Multi Stage Centrifugal Pump installed at Tokal and Denchung, she said. She has extended thanks from Team Mission Bermeli, to Deshpath Lama, MEO Namchi, for inviting Mr Joydeep at the site, she also wrote.She said that the important topics were discussed for technical solutions of reducing water crisis in Namchi during the survey.

The survey team of Mission Bermeli Namchi will soon survey the water source in Bermeli before organizing a meeting of scientific solutions for source development there, it was informed. The team is going to be guided by Ranger Officers from Forest Department and supported by medical team of Namchi District Hospital, alongwith the technical supports of PHED Namchi and technical experts of water source development, it was also informed.
