In a remarkable achievement, Sachin Rana, popularly known as Jin Thapa, secured the prestigious 2nd runner-up position in the above 174cm category, the largest category, at the ‘1st GTA Body Building, Men’s Physique and Open Women’s Physique Championship 2023’ held on October 1st at the Gorkharanga Manch Bhawan (Bhanu Bhawan) in Darjeeling.

Jin, a youthful 25-year-old talent, proudly represented Kalimpong as contestant No. 48 in this highly competitive event. The event was organized by the GTA Department of Sports and Youths Affairs in partnership with the Gorkhaland Body Building and Fitness Association of Darjeeling.
Jin’s journey into the world of fitness began at the age of 14 when he was in class 8. However, he temporarily paused his fitness pursuits due to studies, travel, and other commitments. Nevertheless, he made a remarkable comeback, dedicating himself to consistent training for the past four years.
When asked about his interest in Men’s Physique, Jin expressed his deep desire to represent his hometown, Kalimpong, and raise awareness about fitness and health among the younger generation.

The path of bodybuilding is rife with challenges, especially for those who have only witnessed the training from the sidelines. Over the past four years, Jin underwent constant physical transformations, including adjustments to his diet, leading to occasional sleepless nights. While he was fortunate to avoid major injuries, he did sustain minor cuts during his rigorous training sessions.

The financial aspect of his training is also noteworthy. Jin personally invested a minimum of twenty-five thousand rupees per month to cover training expenses, equipment, special dietary needs, and nutrition formulas.
Jin’s journey to success began with winning the title of Mr. Northeast India Supermodel, followed by a silver medal in the Mr. Kurseong Men’s Physique Bodybuilding 2022 competition. His third achievement was securing the bronze medal and the 3rd position in the GTA-level bodybuilding Men’s Physique category, representing Kalimpong.

Jin extends his heartfelt gratitude to his parents, Regina Rana and Dhiraj Rana, for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout his journey. He also credits his coach, Sahil Shivakoti, for providing invaluable guidance and direction in his training efforts. Special recognition also goes to his friends, who stood by him through every challenge and triumph.
Beyond fitness, Jin is a passionate enthusiast of outdoor activities, adventure sports, basketball, bike riding, and driving, and is a dog lover. Notably, he once took the lead in a Nepali music video titled “Khushi ko artha.”
Jin’s remarkable journey in Men’s Physique serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike. His dedication, hard work, and unwavering spirit have propelled him to the pinnacle of success in the world of bodybuilding.
