Namchi, 27th March, 2024: The last day of nomination filing for general election 2024 saw 30 candidates from all seven constituencies of South Sikkim from four parties of Sikkim filing their nominations in Namchi DAC at the office of the Observeres today, with two candidates filing their nominations on March 26.

The event had the presence of the candidates and gathering of a large numbers of the party supporters outside the premise of Namchi DAC. The sloganeering and flag waving of the two political parties namely, SDF and SKM, were made possible with Namchi police maintaining control line on either sides of the road, avoiding the possible clash between the two main opposing party supporters. 

The crowd had the sloganeering in the names of the former chief minister of Sikkim Pawan Chamling of SDF party and the present chief minister of Sikkim PS Tamang (Golay) of SKM party.

The general secretary of BJP Sikkim, Arjun Rai too filed his nomination for Poklok-Kamrang Constituency alongwith other candidates of BJP, their respective constituencies. After filing his nominations, Arjun Rai, at his residence, called for a press meet, and commented that the filing of his nomination took only 10minutes, owing to the smooth procedures of filing nominations, organized by Election Commission Namchi. 

The chief minister candidate of CAP Sikkim, Ganesh Rai, filed his nomination yesterday for Melli constituency, and the other candidates of CAP Sikkim filed their nominations only today, their respective constituencies. 

The SKM Candidate, Krishna Rai, visited Marut Mandir in Namchi before filing nomination in DAC Namchi, for Namchi-Singithang constituency. Her supporters gathered from Namchi Central Park to DAC Namchi, while the party workers escorted her throughout the stretch to make it possible for filing her nomination. The other party candidates too filed their nominations today, for their respective constituencies.

The SKM candidate of Poklok-Kamrang Constituency, Bhojraj Rai, after filing his nomination, commented that the organizing of nomination procedures by Election Commission Namchi Office, was exceptional and smooth.

The party president of Sikkim Democratic Front, Pawan Chamling filed his nomination for Poklok-Kamrang Constituency, in DAC Namchi today, and other candidates also followed him with their nomination filing afterwards for their respective constituencies. 

All the candidates are going to start their campaigning programmes, after passing the scrutiny tomorrow, if any of them donot withdraw from their candidature by March 30.
