Namchi Fire Station Outnumbered By Fire Incidents On March Month
Namchi, 18th March, 2024: The devastating wildfire has been reported almost everyday in the month of March in Namchi Fire Station, which has currently led to the situation of shortage in tending to two forest fires in Namchi

The wildfire of Rong – Khanigaon and Bikmat – Khorlong, are yet to be attained, this day.
According to the DSR (daily status report) of Namchi Fire Station, a total of 17 reports of fire were reported in the month of March only, with wildfires at Rong and Bikmat yet to be attained.

The Fire Station Officer of Namchi, Bishal Rai, has mentioned that the dry season has led to the numbers of wildfires to increase.
However, also according to Officer Bishal Rai, most of the reports have the common cause of – fire for cultivation, which has led to most of the wildfires.
The two crews of Namchi Fire Station, having six firefighters in each, are still tending to wildfires in Namchi, while the adjoining stations of Ravangla and Jorethang have been informed to provide support if necessary, Officer Bishal Rai has further mentioned.

Furthermore, the Officer have also said, that the fastest way to reach Namchi Fire Station is by directly calling in the landline number of the Fire Station Office of Namchi (03595-263888).
But, the support of water sourcing in certain areas, proper awareness of firefighting, and reaching out to the Fire Station Namchi by public, are yet to be established for smooth functioning of the Department, Officer Bishal Rai have further informed.
