Namchi, 18th September 2023: In an official gathering of political leaders and party members, BJP Sikkim Pradesh continued its efforts under the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha Pravash Yojana in Namchi on September, 16. The event took place at the BJP office in Namchi Upper Ghurpisey, where they had the privilege of hosting Dr. Subash Sarkar, a representative from the BJP Central body.
The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including DR Thapa, President of Sikkim Vajpa, Arjun Rai, General Secretary of Sikkim Vajpa, as well as other party leaders and executives at both the state and district levels.
One notable highlight of the event was the participation of Dr. Sarkar in collecting ‘mitti’ (soil) from six constituencies in Namchi District: Melli, Rabong-Barfung, Namchi, Poklok-Kamrang, Namthang, and Temi. This was done as part of the ‘Meri Maati Mare Desh’ movement initiated by Vajpa. Dr. Sarkar also took part in the party’s pledge-taking ceremony.

During the event, Rabong mondal, Pradip Gurung, addressed various aspects including party grievances, activities, and challenges specific to Namchi District. He mentioned the recent loss of party members who had joined the SKM party during the mass joining event in Rabongla. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of focusing on party programs at the ward level for the party’s overall improvement.
Addressing these concerns, Dr. Subash Sarkar provided reassurance to the party workers. He highlighted BJP’s track record in solving global issues such as climate change, transportation routes, and satellite technology, underlining that the challenges faced by Sikkimese people within the state could also be resolved. He emphasized the support provided to rural Sikkimese for rations, business loans from national schemes of Bandhan Bank, and employment opportunities through MG-NREGA. Dr. Sarkar mentioned that over 151 national schemes were currently benefiting the people of Sikkim.

The event also welcomed approximately 300 new members to BJP Sikkim from Namchi, demonstrating the party’s continued growth.

Following the interaction program, Dr. Subhas Sarkar, who also serves as the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Government of India, visited the Namchi District Administrative Centre. There, he presided over a meeting aimed at assessing and reviewing the achievements and challenges faced by various government departments.

“Government schools of Sikkim are better than private schools,” he has said to the press after the assessment programme was over.

On the other hand, the president of Sikkim Vajpa, DR Thapa, when addressing the press after the interaction programme has said that, Vajpa’s Pravash Yojana will continue for about two more months. “We donot need us to work in coalition with SKM party. In fact, it is them who should be joining hands with us,” he have stated.
