UCS Temi Carries Out Plantation Drive In The Two Areas Of The Constituency

In a supporting step towards environmental stewardship, the United Christian Society, Temi (UCS), convened a plantation drive at Rukum and Gangchung areas falling under the Temi Namphing constituency.

The event was conceptualised as an inter-church environmental outreach programme, bringing together ten churches representing diverse denominations. Church of God, Gangchung, Himalayan Free Church, Temi, IFBPCS, Temi, Church of God, Temi, EPCS, 6th Dhura (Tea Garden), CNI, Daragaon. SPC, Temi, SPCS, Nayadhura (Tea Garden), HFC, Tea Garden, and IFBPCS Branch, Trarku.

The programme witnessed participation from all age groups, ranging from teenagers and youth to adults, pastors, elders, and deacons marking a representation of community based mobilisation.

The event was further overseen and participated by local stakeholders, including Range Officer, Forest Department, John Rai, Beat Officer, Narman Thapa, and Ward Panchayat cum GPU Vice President, Nim Tenzing Sherpa.

Species such as Rhododendron (Guraas) and Wild Himalayan Cherry (Payun), both ecologically suited to the local terrain and climate, were planted to promote sustainable afforestation.

The UCS has officially declared its intention to institutionalise this as an annual environmental initiative, reinforcing their long-term commitment to ecological preservation throughout.
