Namchi Police Successfully Arrest Niraj Tamang for Murder

PI Ankita Pradhan (IO) and her team successfully arrested Niraj Tamang, also known as Miraj Tamang, with the assistance of the West Bengal Police.

Namchi police successfully brought him to Namchi Police Station on July 6, after a seven-month pursuit. Currently, the police are holding him in custody in Namchi.

The Namchi Police Station registered the case under section 302 of IPC, 1860, with FIR number 84/2023 on 26th December 2023. This case was closely monitored and guided by SDPO Namchi and SSP Namchi.

Authorities arrested Niraj Tamang, who was accused of murdering his fellow laborer from Lower Kamrang last year. Both the accused and the victim worked as casual laborers near Namchi without labor registration. Niraj Tamang hails from Gorubathan, Kalimpong, West Bengal.

The remote location of the village and the lack of CCTV coverage posed significant challenges. However, Namchi police utilized advanced mobile tower technology to trace the accused, informing and alerting all relevant stakeholders.
