“People of Sikkim were able to wait for the government for five years after voting, wholly due to the schemes brought by central government,” – Anurag Rai, BJYM State Secretary

Namchi, 26th February, 2024: The executive members of District and Constituency level of BJYM (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha) of BJP Sikkim, led by BJYM State Secretary, Anurag Rai, Namchi District BJYM President, Navin Rai, Namchi District BJYM General Secretary, Roshan Rai, and Mandal President of Poklok-Kamrang Constituency, Madan Rai, and Poklok-Kamrang BJYM President, Prakash Mainali, completed the party’s ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’, in Poklok-Kamrang Constituency, on first and second week of February, ie from February 04 till February 11.

Gaon Chalo Abhiyan, which started on February 04 and concluded on February 11, was carried out by BJYM executive members of Namchi District, with the objectives of preparing a party memorandum for the general election 2024, with the inputs taken from the voters from grassroot level, Sikkim BJYM’s secretary, Anurag Rai have said.

The team for Gaon Chalo Abhiyan, from February 04 till February 11, covered Poklok-Kamrang Constituency, with door to door visit by foot, and distribution of booklets inside which were written BJP party’s work in the state and in nation’s development within last nine years, ie, from 2014-24, and shared the BJP government’s central budgets, central schemes and development works in rural areas.

“It is the most parallel league of BJP Party, nationwide, to take people and societal welfare and development works hand-in-hand, to meet its objective of building India into a developed country by the year of 2047,” Anurag Rai shared, while adding, “for India to become a developed country, it is most necessary that the poorer section of the society, especially from rural areas, are leveled up without failure,” he added.

However, BJP Sikkim fears that the Sikkim state will be left behind in becoming a part of a developed nation, blaming the state governance for the last forty-nine years of regional parties ruling the state, BJYM State Secretary has mentioned.

“Corruption and authoritative rulings of the regional parties has led the people to demean the state politicians and politics itself,” Rai added, “and the power of voting has lost its meaning, and the people have lost their interest in voting itself,” he added, recalling the findings made by BJYM Sikkim’s earlier campaign named ‘Nav-matdata Sammelan’ for new voters of the district.

“and the power of voting has lost its meaning, and the people have lost their interest in voting itself,”

Among the three main awareness on BJP party’s works made to the people of Poklok-Kamrang Constituency; central budgets, central schemes, and development works under central schemes, by BJYM during Gaon Chalo Abhiyan, on February, they found that people were mostly interested in the central schemes, Anurag Rai have informed in Namchi. Whereas, the people were not much aware of the budgets, and were misinformed by regional parties that all the development works, including PHCs, rations, roads, irrigation, PM-Kishan, MG-NREGA, e-shram, Ayushman Bharat, Khelo India, Jal Jeevan Mission, and many others, were done and brought by state government, Anurag Rai have said.

However, in the memorandum prepared so far, by the team who carried out Gaon Chalo Abhiyan, in Poklok-Kamrang Constituency on February, they have made points including some budgets and mostly development works for the Constituency. When questioned on leaving out the schemes from their drafts of memorandum, specially for Poklok-Kamrang, Anurag Rai have said that the schemes have reached the people and are benefitting by them, but it was the awareness on its actual source that were lacking. “People of Sikkim were able to wait for the government for five years after voting, wholly due to the schemes on ration, medicines, farming, roads, education, brought by the central government,” he commented, “there will be chaos if any one of those schemes were cut short,” he added.

As a further campaignings of the party, BJYM is currently carrying out ‘Labharthi Sampark Abhiyan’ to connect with the beneficiaries of the schemes, and ‘Yuva Choupal Abhiyan’ to continue with the awareness on the works of national BJP party in the last nine years, ie, from 2014-24, within the state, and share the party’s bigger goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.
