Sikkim Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan, Season 2: A Grand Affair with Lingering Questions

The Sikkim Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan, Season 2 was a spectacular event. Renforcing the government’s commitment in recognizing and supporting artists in the state.

With the assurance that this celebration will be held annually, many expected a well-defined theme for the year. However, the absence of a clear concept or guiding theme became a topic of discussion among attendees and observers.

Online discussions, casual conversations in public spaces, and social media critiques pointed to concerns about the event’s organization.

Some attendees and media professionals noted difficulties in accessing information, as the core team remained largely unresponsive to queries.

Even after the event, there appeared to be no formal acknowledgment or gratitude extended to stakeholders and sponsors on a public platform.

One major issue that surfaced was crowd management. The Town Hall, which accommodated over 1,500 spectators, became an overwhelming space for some.

Reports indicated that at least three individuals required first aid assistance, prompting a response from the on-site ambulance services. Ensuring better crowd control and safety measures in future editions of the event might be an area for improvement.

Despite these logistical concerns, the event served as a vibrant gathering of artists, influencers, and dignitaries.

More than 900 individuals were felicitated, with some receiving grants-in-aid from the Chief Minister of Sikkim.

The presence of key political figures, including members of the SLA and the Chief Minister himself, added significance to the occasion. Artists from across the state took center stage, showcasing their talent and cultural pride.

Beyond the glamour, the most awaited outcome of the event remains the insights gathered from the panel discussion and speeches by representatives of eight different artistic fraternities. eir perspectives could play a crucial role in shaping future policies and initiatives for the creative community in Sikkim.

As the event evolves into an annual tradition, addressing these organizational gaps and incorporating constructive feedback could make future editions even more impactful for the artist community and the state at large.
