SKM MLAs Going To Exclude Opposition Party Supporters From Government’s Benefits For Next Four Years
Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA) has 31 out of 32 members, belonging to Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party. Some of these MLAs serve as the ministers of Sikkim government, appointed by the state.

The people from 31 Assembly constituencies are organizing congratulatory events for their respective MLAs. The four SKM MLAs of Namchi district attended their welcoming programme this month.
Melli Constituency MLA, Nar Bahadur Pradhan, Poklok-Kamrang constituency MLA, Bhojraj Rai, Temi-Namphing constituency MLA, Bedu Singh Panth, and Namthang-Rateypani MLA, Sanjit Kharel received their grand reception in their respective constituencies.
The MLAs expressed their heart to their supporters, and thank the SKM party president, PS Tamang (Golay). However, all of them calls exclusion from government benefits for the supporters of opposition parties. The team of nine will filter out the supporters of the opposition parties from the constituencies, they share.

The newly elected MLA of Melli Constituency, Nar Bahadur Pradhan, in Sadam, on June 14, highlighted his neutrality on the people who exhibited neutrality when he requested for support during his election campaigning. He calls it fruit of their ‘karma’ to those, whose job regularization, roof allotments, house upgradation allotments and other benefits will be taken back by the Government. He also expressed that the supporters who supported opposition party at the end of the election campaigning should stay at the back of the line for five years.

The MLA of Poklok-Kamrang constituency, Bhojraj Rai, is a lone cabinet minister from Namchi district. He shares he is bound to look after all the people of Sikkim equally. But, his addressals in Kisan Market, on June 18, makes it clear that his loyalty is limited to the party supporters only.

Like other SKM party leaders, MLA of Temi-Namphing, BS Panth, also says that the government and party will put SKM party supporters in the first line for government support. He further says that a committee of nine party-workers will be soon formed for Temi-Namphing constituency to filter the people.

On the other hand, MLA of Namthang-Rateypani constituency, Sanjit Kharel, shares the betrayal SKM party faced from their own supporters. “I was the victim of ragging during the election, but we will take SKM Party for 35 years ruling,” Kharel says.

“Only people who voted for SKM Party will be benefitted in Sikkim,” Kharel said in Namthang Bazar on Monday.
“No more new joining,” Sanjit Kharel emphasized. He also shares that around 700 voters from Namthang-Rateypani did not support SKM Party because of the political rumors from opposition parties.
The SKM MLAs of Sikkim Legislative Assembly patronize their party president PS Tamang, and hold him on highest regards. PS Tamang introduced the exclusive support to the party supporters months before the general election of 2024, when the SKM party was still in power for 2019-24 period.
