The party’s constituency level committee (CLC) of Namchi-Singithang constituency also organized a press conference in Bhanjyang Road near multi car parking plaza to clarify on the resignation of ex-MLA of Namchi-Singithang constituency, Krishna Kumari Rai, and clarify her future prospects.

The general secretary of SKM party for Namchi District, SJ Lepcha have said that the resignation of Krishna Kumari Rai from the post of MLA Namchi-Singithang was a preplanned action of the party.He states that Krishna Kumari Rai made her resignation known to the party fifteen days before the counting and also says that the party cadres were made known of the same.

However, SJ Lepcha, further clarifies that the rumors built by the opposition party against the goodwill of the party were baseless. The resignation of Krishna Kumari Rai was the decision made by the party’s Parliamentary board to overthrow the long ruling MLA of Namchi-Singithang constituency, Pawan Chamling, from the constituency, he further says. He also says that the party’s strategy to remove Pawan Chamling from the constituency was successful, and Krishna Kumari Rai ranks top in receiving the votes from the whole state in the election poll 2024.

“It was purely a strategy of the party and we clarify that it was nominal and not of disruption in the party as rumored by opposition party,” SJ Lepcha says.

While mentioning that the SKM party president, PS Tamang, of being a skilled politician, SJ Lepcha says that it was his idea to give candidature to Krishna Kumari Rai for Namchi-Singithang from the party.

However, the political resignation from the post of MLA within 15 days by Krishna Kumari Rai has led the state to organize bye-election or bypoll, which according to SJ Lepcha was preconceived strategy of PS Tamang to defeat opposition parties and win the bypoll as uncontested area.

SJ Lepcha further says that a new candidate will be finalized by the party for bypoll after the date for by-election is fixed by ECI.

Also during the press conference SJ Lepcha relayed the message of thanks from Krishna Kumari Rai, to the entire supporters who voted her in the general election poll. He further says that Krishna Kumari Rai will still be present in every of GPU level meetings of Namchi-Singithang constituency. SJ Lepcha has said that Krishna Kumari Rai will be looking after the welfare of the state as ‘the spouse of the Sikkim Chief Minister’ here onwards.

SJ Lepcha during the press conference has also said that, all the party executives, CLCS, WLCs, and BLCs, Nari Shakti, Yuva Shakti and grassroot level party supporters accepted the decisions of SKM Party in this strategic politics of PS Tamang and parliamentary board.
