NMC Going To Imply Laws For Source Segregation
Namchi Municipal Council (NMC), is ready to imply ULB Law for garbage source segregation, in Namchi.
The last three years of IEC and other awareness programme on household waste management has empowered NMC to make the rule.
The staffs and councillors of NMC are already acquiring necessary means to build cleaner Namchi. Like, involvement of SHGs from Namchi, and installing RRR machines in the town.
Nukkad natak in Namchi for source segregation as thr last awareness programme
A team of artists from Sikkim under the direction of UDD, Government of Sikkim, is carrying out a play on ‘source segregation and waste management’ for public awareness.

The artists are performig the nukkad natak in the seven ULBs in Sikkim since last week. Covering the topics of source segregation, and other awareness for the public,the artists reach Central Park and Dambudara, of Namchi.
In Namchi, the artists were acting with the support of the members of NMC, and SHGs from around Namchi town.
The theme for the play was ‘sunaolo Sikkim and Samridh Sikkim’. nd was done under the banner of Swaccha Bharat Mission (Urban), of the Government of India.
NMC statements on waste management
Chairman NMC, Ganesh Rai, says that NMC will soon implement regulations for those who throw garbage in the premises of Namchi. They will take cctv footages will as witness against people responsible for the littering, he says.
NMC is ready for seizing licences of shop and hotel owners for throwing garbage in the town. The cash penalties and one year of imprisonment will soon be implemented as Municipal law in Namchi. The nukkad natak was the last form of awareness, NMC Councillor, Pem Norbu Bhutia, mentions.
Conclusion
Source segregation and usage of RRR machines installed in Namchi is highly recommended for the public. It is not the people who are unaware of source segregation. But soon a society under able hands may be seen in Namchi dedicated to waste management.
